1902 Lanchester motor car
These pictures would have been taken in the early 1950's, the starting location being 290 Brompton Road in West London. In the drivers seat is George Upton. Next to him is Francis Hutton-Stott, a friend of Archie and an authority on Lanchester cars. He built up a collection of early Lanchester cars and also wrote two books on the subject. He lived close to the Garage in Portsmouth Road, Camberley where the car was kept and maintained by George Upton. The rear seat passenger is Archie's second son Stewart in his school uniform.
The date of this last photograph and the identity of the vehicle
seen at the Cenotaph in Whitehall is not known.
