Biography of Malcolm Archbald SMITH
[Ref. S.1]
This was a long weekend taken in Shaldon, Devon at the beginning of October 1998. Malcolm and Brenda stayed in a bed and breakfast called Potters Moorings situated on The Green in Shaldon. It was run by a lady who was the sister of actress Youtha Joyce. The place was not of a particularly high standard and the breakfasts were awful. The room that they were allocated was not nice but they managed to get moved to a room with a view over the bowling greens. The room also had a chaise longue in the bay window which was good for Brenda.
Malcolm and Brenda did not travel far as it was more pleasant after the journey down and the prospect of the return. One night they decided to eat in the local gourmet restaurant. However, it was fully booked but a place was offered to them. It was very constricted and uncomfortable and the food was a long time in being served. The food was good but the experience was not.
On the way home, they stopped off at nearby Dawlish Warren then again at Eype in Dorset.
