Biography

"Old Well Cottage"

By the early 1960's, all their children had left home and in 1966 Archie and Doady moved to "Old Well Cottage" in Isle Brewers", Somerset. It was a lovely stone built cottage set in a small hamlet a few miles from the nearest town of Langport. It was set close to the lane having only a modest garden at the front. There was a track to the left giving access to the fields behind.

As Archie was still working in London, Doady was left there by herself during weekdays. To start with, she set about decorating the house, firstly chipping away the floor covering in the living room to expose the lovely bluestone flags. The cottage had low ceilings with plenty of beams. The floors upstairs were suitable uneven.
