Research into the life of Clara Morris has not been completed yet. Sadly, she had a short life, and not enough conclusive evidence has been drawn from registration and census information at this stage. Indications are that she was born in Staffordshire around 1866 but there are seven possible birth registrations for the period 1865 to 1867, two of which in Wolverhampotn in 1867 are the most likley. She was not at home with her parents in the 1871 census so her father's name as shown on her marriage certificate can not be confirmed. The following is her story as it is known so far.
Clara Morris was born about 1866 in Bilston, Staffordshire, according to details in the census of 1871. At that time she was visiting John & Jane Beddows at 35 Market Street, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. Her relationship to them is not known.
In the census of 1881 Clara is recorded as being a General Servant sharing with three other servants at 3 Worcester Street in Wolverhampton. Three and a half years later, on 31 December 1884, Clara married Thomas Blencowe at the parish church of St.Mark's in Wolverhampton. She had been living in Elm Street in Wolverhampton.
Their first child William was born in 1887 then Mabel, their second, the following year.
Sadly, Clara died in 1890 and the event was registered in the Wolverhampton district as having taken place in the first quarter of that year.
