This photograph is of Ernest with his six daughters and was probably taken not long after
the death of his first wife Charlotte in 1888. Both sons had passed away by this time.

From consultation with other descendants, comparison to other photographs and careful consideration,
it is believed that the girls are arranged in order of age from back right to left front.
