The "Witches Barn"

at Marlow Bottom

[Ref. Q.5]

Biography

This is the Witches Barn at Marlow Bottom, a village hall converted from former tea rooms for which Sydney Folker arranged the design, planning consent and building work soon after the end of the second World War. It is not clear how much of the actual work he undertook personally either of the planning or the building. However, he did continue his association once the building was in use and he was the first president. He would put on plays using his experience from his earlier days. He would produce the plays, paint the scenery, prepare the programmes, act on stage and probably a few other things as well.

Listed below are items of memorabilia which survived and were donated by Sydney's family to Marlow Museum in 2017 :-
The architectural plans
A photograph of the stage
A copy of a programme from 1950
