Photo Story

Malcolm had long yearned for this model of car ever since seeing the one his uncle Arthur drove. Not long after Malcolm was married, he took his wife's Triumph Herald and traded it in against this car from a dealer in Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth. Ha and Brenda then shared the car as required. It was a very comfortable car to drive, especially as it was more powerful than previous cars either of them had owned.

Malcolm had enough mechnical knowledge tp be able to basic maintenance on the car thus saving precious money being spent on garage bills. One day Malcolm had a slight ding with another car in Farnborough when he anticipated the other driver's move and got it wrong. The only damage was to the distinctive illuminated name badge on the front of the car and it took a while to find a replacement from a scrapyard. His work colleagues pestered him to get it done as the car did not right without it.

Once a week Brenda would go to visit her sister in Wiltshire so she would drop Malcolm at work then rush back to collect him at the end of the day. When Brenda was working, she did not need the car so Malcolm would use it unless he was cycling. He was working in Southampton when he first bought the car then later in Salisbury. The car developed a problem with the cooling which Malcolm was never able to cure despite many attempts. To get round the problem whilst driving he used to slip it out of gear on the downhill sections but, where that was not possible, he would have to stop and add cold water.
