This car was purchased from a dealer in Purewell, Christchurch and, although quite comfortable, was not particularly outstanding. The most memorable thing about it was that the timimg belt broke and wrecked the engine when Malcolm was travelling on the A338 through Ibsley. He managed to pull up on the grass verge and call the AA who came to his rescue. As they were not able to fix the car, he was towed back home behind the AA Transit van and it was a hairaising experience. The car was attached with a short bar and malcolm was instructed to turn with the van and brake at the same time. The route back was through narrow country lanes and the driver set off at a cracking pace. Malcolm's visibility was obscured by the wide van so found it difficulyt to anticipate turning or braking. However, they completed the journey and the car was left in Malcolm's driveway. A local motor engineer managed to work on the car in the carport and rebuilt the engine back into working order. Malcolm later found out the the engineer was actually registered as unemployed and was doing this work 'on the side'.

Various other little things started to go wrong, and when the electric motor on the driver's door window ceased working, Malcolm decided to scrap the car. He sold it as scrap to Avon Forest Autos in Boundary Lane at Hurn near Bournemouth. To Malcolm's surprise, he received phone call several weeks later from a man who had bought the car and was wondering what had been wrong with it. Anyhow, he was able to fix it and have the car running so Malcolm was not too bothered.
