This car belonged to Malcolm's son William and it had the name 'Monty' for two reasons. Firstly, it came from a garage in Beaulieu where Lord Montague was the incumbant in the manor house, so the name Monty was devised. The second reason is that Willian previously had a pet grey guinea-pig called Monty so, as the Morris was grey, they name stuck.
William decided to take a year out to travel the world and, as he did not want to lose the car, Malcolm offered to take ownership of during William's travels. Malcolm used it regularly and found it a very willing motor and easy to drive. He and his wife Brenda had fun with it during that year before it was transferred back to William.
Malcolm had one worry with the tax disc. Because it was by then a heritage motor, there was no tax duty to pay so Malcolm did not attempt to renew the disc when it expired. However, he found out that the car sill had to be registered on pain of a fine if defaulted. He went to th elicencing office and explained what had happened and was given the new licence without punishment.
