Malcolm could dive into the water from the pool edge but had never really progressed to using a board. The opening of the new pool gave him the opportunity and he gained enough confidence to use the springboard. As described elsewhere, he did acomplish a somersault dive from the springboard during nightime escapades. He did not, however, find enough courage to dive from the top board apart from a couple of exploratory attempts such as shown in the photos below, but he did use the lower boards quite happily.
