Malcolm only competed in the 440yd race and, as he had represented the school at this
distance, he expected to be well placed. However, that did not happen and he finished
in 4th place, the winning time being 53.1 seconds. Consequently, he felt rather deprived.
In consolation, he had performed well at his 'standards', gaining all except the javelin.
