1956 was a good year in athletics for Malcolm. He gained all his 'standards' at middle level also he was in his
house team who were outright winners on sports day that summer. He finished 3rd in the 880yd race. In the
relay races he ran in the 440yd and 880yd which were his specialist events. He was awarded his house colours.
