Holiday in Selsey, West Sussex in 1948

This was to be the first of many month long annual summer holidays that the family would spend in Selsey. Malcolm's father had rented a house called The Phytle which was situated in Vincent Road, Selsey in West Sussex. The family all travelled down together then, after a few days, father would return home and continue work.

Naturally, many days were spent on the beach but there were also trips on the bus to Chichester. One memory that Malcolm had was a field full of chickens behind the house being slaughtered. The men were putting their foot on the chickens head and pulling it by the legs then the dead birds were writhing for some moments afterwards.

In the garden of "The Phytle" in Vincent Road, Selsey. The house had been rented for a month.
