Malcolm spent this holiday with his father staying in the Carbis Bay Hotel. The local branch railway line from St.Erth ran through the grounds in front of the hotel and provided a point of interest whilst looking out of the window. Malcolm spent much of this holiday on his own exploring the beach and cliffs and examining many of the old mine workings. His main recollection is going for a late night swim with his father and being astounded the the coldness of the atlantic sea water.
