Biography

Train shed at Shaftesbury House

One of Malcolm's hobbies was his interest in railways and he had a collection of models and memorabilia. He had made a pledge that they would not clutter the house so he decided to build a shed in the garden to house the collections. He was able to source most of the materials by purchasing offcuts from work or buying salvaged timber from house demolitions. The shed was designed in modular style to make it easier for Malcolm to erect single-handed. It was 36' long by 12' wide and included a tool shed and a garden store. Once the shed was finished Malcolm displayed many of his items of railway memorabilia and built a scale model of Wimborne railway station. The track for the layout was completed but the model remained unfinished.
