For this holiday, the family stayed in Parton Vrange cottage, located on the St.Just in Roseland peninsular in Cornwall. The cottage formed part of a former farm complex which had been converted at that time into a mail order business.

The family arrived on Saturday 2 September and, having settled in visited the nearest beach to find it very quiet to their delight. However, by the next day it was busy. On Sunday, they went to Towan beach to relax then in the afternoon they took a walk along the coastline.

The weather during the week remained mostly dull and the family spent their time visiting different locations in the area.

This was to be the last holiday that the family took together as the boys would be leaving home and setting out on their own.
