The vegetable garden

This was the first area of the garden to be started so that production could get underway. A soft fruit area was designated on the left hand side and a fruit cage built to cover the main part against birds. To the right general crops were grown and an informal system of rotation adopted. Malcolm mamaged to get a broad range of crops growing and each year he would try something new. On winter evenings after Christmas, he would trawl through the seed catalogues to make up his order ready for the spring.
