The site was built on part of the land of Syon House which was formerly owned by the Duke of Northumberland. When the foundations of the tower block were constructed, some old cellars were found and had to be filled with concrete. One of the delivery lorries fell into the hole which was about 20 feet deep and had to be dragged out.
