Sydney Aaron Smith,son of Henry James and Mary Ann Smith, was born in Eynsford on 23 June 1880 then baptised there on 5 September the same year.
The census of 1881 records the family living in Upper Austin Lodge Cottages in Eynsford, Kent. By the time the census was taken in 1891, they were living in West Yoke in Ash, Kent. The family were still living in West Yoke according to the 1901 census and Sydney was employed as a farm labourer.
In 1903, Sydney married Alice Jane Gregory in the Dartford registration district. Son William was born in Ash around 1904 the Charles about 1907. The census of 1911 census records Sydney as a Horseman on a farm and still living in West Yoke.
Albert and Mary Annie were still living in the same place when the 1939 register was taken but Albert was now a general labourer. The 1939 register shows Sydney and his family living in Stone Cottage at 44 Raeburn Avenue,Dartford, nextdoor to his brother Henry and wife Annie. Sydney's occupation remained that of a horesman.
Sydney passed away in 1962 and his death was recorded in the Thanet registration district.
