Ancestors Profile Index for RIMMER

Charles Rimmer was born in 1867, eldest of the seven children of Charlas and Alice Rimmer of Lydiate. The
census of 1871 shows the family living in Hall Lane in Lydiate where his father was farming.

According to the 1881 census Charles was a boarder at Spinkhill College in Eckington, Derbyshire. By the time the census was taken in 1891, Charles was back with his family who were now living in Eager Lane in Lydiate and he was probably working with his father.

Charles married Jane Lovelady in 1891. Son Joseph was born in 1993 and Charles in 1897. The census of 1901 records Charles and his family as living at the farm in Melling Mount, Melling near Ormskirk. The household had a young female servant and there were two young labourers also living separately at the farm.

Daughter Gertrude was born in 1904 and son Gerard in 1909. The 1911 census tells us that Charles and Jane were living with Gertrude and Gerard at Birkdale Farm School where Charles was Farm Baliff. The school was a reformatory run by the Liverpool Catholic Reformatory Association for Roman Catholic boys.

Thereafter, nothing is known about Charles.
