Charles Blundell Rimmer was born on 5 June 1842 at Lydiate in Lancashire and carried the same names as his father. The birth was registered in Aughton
six weeks later. The census of 1851 shows the family living in Lydiate Hall which was his father's tenancy acommodation. Besides Charles, his father and mother, there were ten other people living there. Eight were agricultural labourers of which two were his father's brothers and there were two servants.
By 1861 the family had moved to Eager Gate and his father had his own farm on which Charles was employed.
Charles married Alice Vose at the recently consecrated St.Marie's Roman Catholic church in Lydiate on 13 June 1865. Alice was six years older thn Charles and was a daughter of farmer William Vose. The witnesses were Alice's brother John and sister Ann. Son Charles Blundell was born in 1867 and daughter Elizabeth in 1870.
The census of 1871 records the familiy living with one servant in Hall Lane, Lydiate. By then Charles was farming 40 acres on his own account and employing one man who lived with them as did the servant. Daughter Ann was born about 1872, Theresa about 1874 and Mary about 1876. Son William was born about 1878 and lastly, daughter Ada about 1880. The census of 1881 shows the family except son Charles now living in Eager Lane and Charles farming 45 acres and employing 3 labourers. The household also supported two young female servants.
Charles' wife Annie passed away in 1887. The 1891 census finds that son Charles is back living with the family but that Theresa has left. There is one servant. The Electoral Register of 1894 lists Charles as living in Eager Lane and qualified to vote as he farmed land and tenement in Moss Lane, Lydiate.
Charles married Helen Vale in 1895. It is not thought they had any children. The next census in 1901 finds Charles and Helen livinh in Eager Lane in Lydiate together with his son William and Helen's sons Frank and John. The household maintained a single servant. Nextdoor was Charles' first wife's brother Joseph together with his wife and daughter.
In 1890, the Electoral Register showed Charles similarly qualified but on a farm in Eager Lane. In 1905 he had three fields in Ince Pad Lane, Lydiate.
Charles passed away on 2 April 1906. Probate was granted in Liverpool to farmer Stephen Hurst and solicitor Richard Yates. The estate amounted to £4657 6s 1d.
