Clara Elizabeth Pooley was born on 16 June 1879, the third daughter and one of the six children of Henry and Frances Pooley then living in Lambeth, Surrey. The
1881 census shows the family living at 115 Flaxman Road in Lambeth. The census of 1891 records that the family were now living at 26 Landels Road in Dulwich, Surrey. When the census was taken in 1901, they were at 13 Trebor Street in Dulwich and Clara was employed as a draper's assistant.

On 30 September 1902, Edward married Edward James Lane, son of Draper and Hannah Lane. Her address at that time wa given as 76 Harley Road in Harlesden, Middlesex. Daughter Winifred was born in Harlesden in 1903, son Harold in 1905 and Eric in 1908. By the time the census of 1911 was taken, they were living at 89 Minet Avenue in Harlesden.

Daughter Edna was born in Harlesden in 1913 and son Victor in 1919. Clara and Edward were still living at 89 Minet Avenue when he passed away on 4 April 1924. The photograph shows some typical houses in Minet Avenue but the actual address numbers are not known.

When the 1939 register was taken, Clara was living with her sister Winifred and brother Victor at 475 North Circular Road in Willesden. Clara died in 1945.
