In August 1982, Malcolm and Brenda met up with their Dutch friend Hans and Ynskje again, having taken a cottage called Edge View Cottage in a hamlet called Broome, near Craven Arms in Shropshire. The cottage was located right next to the railway line which ran past on an embankment, thus the trains were both audible and visible. The first train past in the morning was quite early and would wake everyone up with a start.

During the week long break, they travelled about, visiting Ludlow and Shrewsbury, also going round Stokesay Castle.
