In October 1981, the family went to stay with Brenda's brother and his family in Whitburn. They lived in part of a large old stone house called The Limes and it included an old wine cellar in which they had made into a games room.

During the stay, they visited Beamish Museum also made trips to York, Newcastle and Sunderland.
