Jane Lovelady was born in Lydiate, Lancashire in 1869, one of the eleven children of Peter and Jane Lovelady. The census of 1871 shows the family living in Turnpike Road in Lydiate where her father was a farmer.
According to the 1881 census, the family were still living in Turnpike Road in Lydiate. The census of 1891 gives their address as Highway Farm on Old Turnpike Road, Lydiate.
Jane married Charles Rimmer in 1891. Son Joseph was born in 1993 and Charles in 1897. The census of 1901 records Charles and his family as living at the farm in Melling Mount, Melling near Ormskirk. The household had a young female servant and there were two young labourers also living separately at the farm.
Daughter Gertrude was born in 1904 and son Gerard in 1909. The 1911 census tells us that Charles and Jane were living with Gertrude and Gerard at Birkdale Farm School where Charles was Farm Baliff. The school was a reformatory run by the Liverpool Catholic Reformatory Association for Roman Catholic boys.
Jane was living at 46 Richmond, Birkdale, Lancs when she died on 28 February 1938. Probate was granted in Liverpool on 25 July to her sister-in-law Mary Gertrude Rimmer, the value of the estate being £466 13s 9d.
