Clara Hogarth was born at 36 Charles Street in Bethnal Green, Middlesex on 25 November 1853, a daughter of John William and Sarah Hogarth.

The record of Clara in the 1861 has not been found. When the census was taken in 1871, the family were at 14 Ware Street in Shoreditch, Middlesex. Clara was eighteen years old and by then working as a card maker.

On 7 December 1876, Clara married Frank Barratt of the Barratt's sweet manufacturing family. The wedding took place in the Shoreditch Reister Office. Daughter Clara Elizabeth was born in 1877.

When the census was taken in 1881, the family were living at 26 Oxford Road in Canonbury, Middlesex. Son George Osborne was born in Wood Green in 1883. The 1891 census records the family at 1 Wood Green Villas in Tottenham where they had 19 year old servant Elizabeth Tavener.

By 1901, Frank and Clara had moved to 111 Mayes Road in Wood Green which was close to the sweet factory.

Clara died at home at 111 Mayes Road in Wood Green, Middlesex on 14 November 1906 with her daughter Clara Elizabeth in attendance. Clara was buried at Highgate Cemetery with other members of the Barratt family and where her husband Frank would join her in 1928.
