Harvey Herman Harding was
born at 6 Tennyson Road, South Norwood in Surrrey on 3 Decemberber 1884, the third child and only son of Harvey and Agnes Harding. He was baptised on 10 May 1886.

The census of 1891 shows the family living at 168 Wellfield Road in Streatham, Surrey. Also in the house besides his parents and siblings, were his half-sister Jessie Harding and her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Podbury. By 1901 the family had moved to 38 Eardly Road in Streatham. The electoral register of 1908 shows Harvey at that address but in a furnished one room first floor flat which he rented from his father.

Harvey married Emiline Alice Crawford at St.Paul's parish church in Herne Hill on 15 October 1910. The 1911 census shows them living at 18 Cromer Road in Tooting, Surrey and he is recorded as being a Grocer's Manager.

Son Kenneth Herman Harding was born in Croydon in 1912. However, by 1918, Harvey and his wife Emiline were living in Sutton, Surrey, but at different addresses, he at Downley in Beauchamp Road and she at 151 High Street presumably with son Kenneth. This continued until 1920 when it appears that Harvey moved back in with Emiline and in 1924 they moved to 158 High Street and to 244 High Street in 1927.

The 1935 electoral register lists Harvey, without Emiline, at 24 Hillfield Avenue in Carshalton. The other adult in that building was Violet J Gunn. When the 1939 register was taken, Harvey was still at 24 Hillfield Avenue in Carshalton and working as an Assistant in a Provisions Shop whereas Emiline was living with her brother William and his wife in Worthing, Sussex.

Harvey remained at 24 Hillfield Avenue until sometime between 1937 and 1945 when he had moved next door to number 26 where Sarah Douglas was the other occupant. He was a night watchman at 9 Spicer Hill in Wimbledon which is where he died on 6 January 1962. Emiline survived until 1970. Her death certificate described him a a Commissionaire (deceased).
