Agnes Minna Harding was born in Dringhouses, Yorkshire in 1875 and was baptised at St.Edwards church on 24 June that year. She was known as Minna. The 1881 census shows that the family living Mill Street, Norton near Malton.
The family were at the same address in 1891 but when the census was taken, both Minna and her younger sister Mabel were visiting station master Walter Johnson and family at Goldsbrugh railway station near Ripon, Yorks.
In 1894 Minna married Thomas Barker. Son Christopher A was born in 1896, daughter Gladys in 1897 and son Stanley in 1900. The 1901 census shows that Minna and Thomas were living with their children at the Royal Oak Hotel in Market Place, Helmsley where he was proprieter. The household also had two servants, Gertrude Thompson and Eleanor Holdsworth.
Daughter Muriel was born in 1902. The family were still at the Royal Oak when the 1911 census was taken. Also shown on the census were Thomas' mother Annie, servants Rhoda Nicholson and Kathleen Harrison and trained nurse Marwic Ridgeway.
Minna passed away at home in the Royal Oak Hotel in Helmsley on 7 July 1915 due to heart failure, leaving a will for which probate was granted at York to her husband on 14 August the same year. Thomas married Laura Hollywood in Helmsley in 1916 and survived until 1939.
