Lily Augusta Harding was born in Dringhouses, Yorkshire on 26 May 1872, the fourth child of Ernest and Charlotte Harding. She was baptised at St.Edwards church in Dringhouses on 28 June the same year. Lily is how she was known although her name is given as Lilly on the index of birth registrations.
The 1881 census shows that the family now lived in Mill Street, Norton near Malton. They were at the same address when thecensus of 1891 was taken and Lily is listed as being a milliner. She then had five sisters but her two brothers had passed away.
Lily Married locally born grocer Thomas Hubbard in Malton in 1898. Their daughter Dorothy was born on 2 April 1899 in Jesmond. The 1901 census records that they were living at 59 St.Georges Terrace in Jesmond, Newcastle-upon-Tyne where her husband was a Grocer's Manager and there was no change when the 1911 census was taken.
When the 1939 register was taken, Lily and Thomas were living at 48 Pollards Hill South in Norbury near Croydon in Surrey. Lily died there on 11 March 1950 leaving a will for which probate was granted at Newcastle on 24 April to her husband who survived her until 1964.
