The following is an article found on the Jockeypedia website.

Ernest Augustus Harding was apprenticed to trainer William Dilly, for whom he won the 1852 Cambridgeshire Handicap
on "Knight of the Shire" when he was aged only 12 or 13. He died on September 21, 1910 at Malton, aged 71, leaving £1,000.

(Note: It was definitely Ernest Harding who rode Knight of the Shire and not ‘Captain R Harding’ as listed in the Breedon Book of Horse Racing Records.)
