Emma Furness was born in 1850 in Hign Holborn, Middlesex, the first of the two children of James and Emma Furness.

The census of 1861 shows the family still at the same address. Emma is not evident in the 1871 census but, by 1881 she was Sub-matron in Trebyan Orphanage for girls in Lanhydrock, Cornwall where her mother was Marton.

On 3 August 1885, William married William Harcourt Bustard in Lanhydrock parish church. Son William Hugh Gordon was born the following year, Frank Harcourt in 1888 and Frederick Walter in 1890.

In 1891 the family plus two servants were living at 2 West View, Upper Penn, Liesdon, Staffordshire. By 1901 the family were living at 134 St.Stephens Road, Upton Park, East Ham, Essex.

Their address was shown as 283 Katherine Road, Forest Gate, Essex in the 1911. Son Frank was not present on that occasion. William passed away in 1925 but Emma survived until 1936 and passed away in the Brentford area.
