United Kingdom Patent GB421633
421,633. Table game apparatus; puzzles. FOLKER, A. L., Lested Lodge, Lion Gate Gardens, Richmond, Surrey. Feb. 10, 1934, No. 4432. [Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii)]
Table game apparatus comprises an inclined board having a path winding from side to side of the board and provided with traps, the board being rocked from side to side to manoeuvre the ball to avoid the traps. The board is supported in an inclined position by hinged supports 14 at each end, the supports having pointed or rounded extensions 15 so that the board can be rocked about a longitudinal axis by handles 17. The board has a rim 13 and comprises a plain plywood underboard 10 to which is secured on the upper surface thereof a board 11 carved or fretted out to provide a channel 12 for a metal ball or balls rolling from the end 18 to the harbour or goal 16, provided with cups 25 having different scoring values.; The channel 12 simulates a river, steeplechase or motor racing course and is provided with bridges 24 and traps 21 comprising circular cut away parts 21 communicating with the channel 12, on the lower side thereof, by tributary channels 22. Projections 23 are provided making it difficult for the balls to pass the traps. The tributary channels 22 preferably lie parallel or substantially parallel to the axis of pivoting of the board so that an entrapped ball is not dislodged in rocking the board. The balls are kept in a store 19 provided with a pivoted cover 20. A magnet may be provided to facilitate return of the balls.
