Marian Ellen Folker was born on 15 March 1860 at Market Street, Hanley, Staffordshire and was baptised at St.John's church on 8 April. He was the second child of William Henry and Ellen Jane Folker, their firstborn having died before Marian was born.
The census of 1861 shows Ellen in the household in Market Street. Sadly, she did not survive childhood and died of bronchitis on 29 March 1959, shortly before her fifth birthday.
