Biography

Edgar Drewett (1924-1899) was a professional photographer followed
his son Edgar (1854-1924), but both also had other commercial interests.
Their working lives overlapped so it is difficult to determine which of them
had taken some of the photographs. Edgar senior started in 1859 with a studio
in Fredericks Place, Blackheath, moving to 4 Brunswick Place after a couple
of years, and remaining there until 1875. He had a second studio in Lewisham.

By the 1850's, Edgar senior had moved to 47 High Street, Guildford and opened
a studio there plus others in Dorking and Reigate, whilst maintaining the business
in Blackheath. Within a few more years Edgar had opened further studios in Basingstoke,
Winchester and Aldershot. All of these continued under the management of Edgar junior.
