George William Crowhurst was born in Chelsfield, Kent on 31 October 1906, the younger of the two sons of George William and Caroline Crowhurst. The 1911 census shows the family living at 6 Ethel Terrace, Pratts Bottom, Chelsfield, Kent.
At the time of the next census in 1921, the family were living in Pratts Bottom and George was employed as a labourer by Curtis Homesteads Ltd., who were builders and contractors in Chelsfield.
George married Edith Emily Smith on 15 April 1933 at Holy Trinity Church in Dartford, Kent. Her sister Rose was a witness at the wedding. George was now a carpenter and had been living at 1 Ethel Terrace in nearby Pratts Bottom, Chelsfield.
According to the 1939 register George, Edith and their son Peter were living at 129 Langley Way in Beckenham, Kent, and Edith's sister Alma was also listed there.
George died on 23 June 1975 and that was recorded in the Canterbury registration district.
