John Frederick Archbald was born in the Islington registration district on 23 March 1875, the youngest child of John Renton Archbald and Sophia, née Gilfoy. The census of 1881 shows the family living at 6 Marlborough Terrace in Holloway Road, Upper Holloway. By 1891 John was living at 182 Stanhope Street near Regents Park in St.Pancras, Middlesex. This was the house of his brother William's family and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Bettles and brother-in-law Fred were also living there. John was working as a Printers Compositor as were William and Fred. The household was similar when the 1901 was taken at 15 Hamilton Street in St.Pancras except that sister Edith was also present.
William's address was given as 83 Buckingham Road, Brighton, Sussex when he marriedAlice Maud Mary Hunt at St.Nicholas church, Brighton. She was a daughter of George and Mary Hunt, he being a postman in Brighton. John and his wife returned to London and their son John was born in Hampstead around 1906. The family were living at 13 Shirlock Road in Hampstead when the 1911 was taken. Their niece Amy Hunt was also present at that time.
The only known facts thereafter are that John passed away in the area of Eton, Bucks in 1945. His wife Alice lived on in the Windsor area until 1976.
